The wine making traditions came to Chile in the 16th century along with the European settlers, particularly the misionaries who started the grape cultivation and the wine production for the church purposes. In 1840 the country established its significant position on the wine market in South America.
One of the leading Chilean wineries is Vina Canepa, set up in 1930 by the Italian emigrant Jose Canepa. the use of most modern technologies and th wide range of grape varieties used in the wine production give top quality produce.
Canepa wines are distinctively fruity, refreshing, clear and go well with most dishes for their excellently balanced tanin structure. Specific Chilean climat, virtually unchangeable weather as well as the mountains and ocean surrounding the place are also of significant importance to the quality of the wines.
Canepa wines have been occupying thier high position among the world wine leaders since the 1980"s, with gold medals awarded in prestigious wine Expos and fairs.
